Investec's Corporate Treasury team provides specialist foreign exchange, interest rate, commodity and money-market services to UK SMEs. Whether you're an importer, exporter, or, simply have foreign currency positions (for example, through cash holdings or overseas debt), the Investec team can help you to manage the associated risks more effectively. These risks should come as no surprise to the logistics industry. In particular, given that such a high percentage of the industry has been built on global trade, the impact to a logistics business's margin as a result of moves in the foreign exchange market ore especially concerning. For example, by purchasing a piece of factory equipment or another asset from overseas, you can experience significant currency exposure from the time it is ordered to when it is paid for. By not correctly hedging the risk of these currency moves, this could cost a business up to 10 to 15% if the asset is financed over five years.
