The first of a new type - the ER 20 CF freight locomotive -from Siemens Transportation Systems has been delivered to Lithuanian Railways. At 138 tonnes the new locomotive is one of the heaviest in Europe and in double-headed operation can haul trains up to 6,000 tonnes and transport up to 50% more freight per route. The ER six-axle type engines are based on the Eurorunner family developed by Siemens for diesel operation.
