Travel demand modelling is one of the well-researched fields. The level of service (LOS) attributes of transportation system obtained from zonal-based network models are normally used to estimate a disaggregate model of travel demand. This may introduce some problems. An understanding of different sources of errors is important in trying to minimize the errors. This paper investigates and identifies the potential sources of errors due to the use of network LOS attributes of transportation system in disaggregate modelling of travel demand. Though network LOS attributes are erroneous, their use in traveller demand modelling is inevitable because the cost of correcting for inaccuracies is often excessive. The paper also presents and discusses the problems of network-based LOS attributes and potential sources other than networks of obtaining the LOS attributes.
