摘要

The need for higher performing naval ships is spurring interest in non-traditional hull forms. As these tend to be more complex than conventional hull designs, the use of computational techniques to analyze hydrodynamic performance in early stages of design is a key to shortening the design spiral. This was the approach used for the 2,000 t Composite High Speed Vessel project, which incorporated lifting body technology to achieve improvements in resistance and seakeeping. Multiple computational studies, using a variety of software tools, were completed in the hydrodynamic design process. These were followed by an extensive model testing program to validate and extend the computational results. The purpose of this paper is to compare the results obtained from the computational analyses with the model test data.
