Italian tube machinery manufacturer Bema and British robotics supplier Motoman have jointly developed a six-station tube end-working machine that is loaded and unloaded by an articulated-arm robot. The 6 tonnes force SER 6x6 rotary transfer machine is particularly applicable for the automotive industry. For example, a bead and olive form can be machined by successive workstations onto one end of the tube, before the robot arm turns the work-piece around and inserts the reverse end into the machine so that the bead, undercut and taper are complete.
