The 1510km-long Caspian pipeline, which began transferring crude oil this October, is being shared by several oil companies, thanks to an intelligent customer management system (CMS) developed with technical assistance from Siemens. Effectively, the CMS administers incoming orders for crude oil and then manages the pipeline's operation so that supply can be most cost-effectively matched with demand.
