Tubacex Tubos Inoxidables, the Spanish producer of seamless stainless steel pipes, has responded to claims of illegal state aid, received by the company after its suspension of payments in 1992. The claims have been made by Bill Good, managing director of UK-based Sterling Tubes (Tube International, January 1997, p8). Tubacex is represented in the UK by Amodil Supplies Limited. Mr Good, whose company competes with Tubacex throughout Europe, has carried out a personal campaign over three years in trying to prove illegal state aid was given, says Tubacex.
