Unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) represent a revolutionary advance in the world of aviation invention and technological innovation. The vice chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff responded to this emerging fact in 2005 when he stood up the Joint UAS Center of Excellence (JUAS COE) to develop joint UAS operational and employment concepts as a means to reap operational dividends at home, abroad, and on the battlefield.
