AUVSI's board of directors recendy announced the appointment of Michael Toscano as executive director of AUVSI. Michael currently serves as the program manager for research and development for nuclear security in the Office of the Deputy Assistant to the Secretary of Defense for Nuclear Matters. Since 1990, Michael has coordinated three U.S. Department of Defense (DOD) joint programs as a member of the Under Secretary of Defense Acquisition, Technology and Logistics (AT&L) staff. He served as coordinator of the Joint Robotics Program (JRP) from 1990 to 2003 and as chairman of the Physical Security Equipment Action Group (PSEAG) from 1991 to 2003 and 2005 to present. He also oversaw for DOD the Joint Unexploded Ordnance Coordination Office from 2001 to 2003. Michael served on the AUVSI board of directors from 2003 to 2005 and was an advisory member to the 2002 Naval Research Advisory Committee study on the Roles of Unmanned Vehicles.
