It's 7 a.m. in Jackson, Wyo. Ryan Parker walks into his office, presses his thumb against the keypad, and is immediately greeted by a pleasant voice saying, "Good morning, Ryan." Ryan sets down his coffee and says, "Good morning. May I have my morning report?" "Last night, we processed orders for 50,000 widgets from Asia and 30,000 from Europe, ahead of plan by 15 percent. Demand remains very robust in Asia, so we purchased additional manufacturing-capacity futures on the exchange. However, inventory levels at our Fort Myers facility exceeded our desired reserve levels, so we automatically conducted an overnight auction and liquidated the excess supply."
