What better way to find out about Society members than to disseminate a membership survey? A general membership survey was distributed on November 16 to some 1,000 AHS members. The survey was relatively simple in its administration - members were invited via e-mail to take an online survey and were asked 19 questions including their perceived value of the Society; satisfaction and importance of services; membership and participation in other associations, basic demographics; and other queries. An impressive 341 members completed the survey, which represents 34 percent of the respondents, a significantly high response rate for this type of general industry survey. The number of responses reflects the high level of interest by our members in the Soci- ety and we feel confident that the feedback we received is generally reflective of the sentiments of our membership-at-large. (Of course, for those who didn't participate you can let us know if we are mistaken in this assessment.) The reason for the survey was to get feedback on how AHS was meeting membership expectations in different areas as well as how our programs and services compare to other organizations serving our industry. Besides this article in Vertiflite, the results of the survey will be distributed to members of our various committees and AHS chapter executives to promote further discussions on the subject and to identify areas where we can enhance the value of AHS membership at both the national and local level.
