Boeing said in an April 16 media call it had delivered its 500th AH-64E Apache Guardian attack helicopter to an undisclosed customer. The company is marketing the model to Australia as a replacement for its Tiger fleet and indicated possible interest from additional nations including Japan, South Korea and Bangladesh. On May 7, the US Department of State approved a possible $2.3B refurbishment package to Egypt for 43 of its Guardians, including engines, targeting and night vision sensors, weapons, navigation systems, missile warning systems, and other upgrades and spare parts. The US Army plans to have its new AH-64E "Version 6" upgrade in service in early 2022, following flight training with its initial unit.
