Brian Robinson, known for engineering modifications to the Republic Seabee including installation of a Corvette V8 engine, has a new, much more ambitious project: designing and producing a clean-sheet-of-paper six-place flying boat called the Horizon X2. The X2 will incorporate some inno- vative safety features including a ski-like device forward of the wheels to deflect water and prevent overturning in the event of a gear-down water landing. A composite triple hull will have outboard fuselage sponsons for stability and flotation.
