Originally scheduled to be held in Nuremberg, Germany, the 2020 IWTO Wool Round Table took place as a virtual event on 30 November - 2 December, with four live Chat Rooms taking place over the three days. Attendees received insight on the state of wool trade in Australia, China, Europe and the US from senior figures across the wool textile industry in each country / region. In order to help provide an open discussion format, each Chat Room followed the Chatham House Rule, meaning that participants were free to use information received, but neither the identity nor the affiliation of the speaker(s), nor that of any other participant, could be explicitly or implicitly revealed. Representatives from 21 countries and all stages of the wool pipeline attended the event. Speakers in the Australia Chat Room emphasised the growing importance of traceability, and called on growers to continue responding to this need by filling out the National Wool Declaration (NWD), which indicates the mulesing status of a wool bale.
