摘要

A modified direct-current voltage-gradient (DCVG) survey technique is now in use that appears to provide pipe-to-soil potentials that compare well with those from the traditional CIPS method but with less labor and greater precision.Pipe-to-soil potentials measured against a reference electrode are a commonly used indicator to control pipe line cathodic protection. A trailing cable usually is necessary and the potentials are measured along the whole pipe line by taking readings at regular intervals or at the epicenter of coating faults pinpointed with the DCVG technique. This article considers epicenter pipe-to-soil potentials measured by means of a modified DCVG technique, without trailing cable.
