The paint and varnish market has grown quickly in the last few years.This is due also to the new "Deco Paint Guideline" 2004/42/EC European regulation.This law sets the thresholds of the so called VOC emissions (volatile organic compounds) in the atmosphere.The European manufacturers of coating products,now have to adjust their products to the new rules.The importance of the water borne coating systems is still growing due to this new legislation.One of the main projects of these last years has consisted in developing polyurethane dispersions for high performance varnishes for furniture and parquets.The polyurethane dispersions are well known and they have been used for years.These binders are used in various coating systems,such as: protective coatings for the building industry,decorative paints,electronic industry,furniture industry,varnishes for the car industry,leather and textile industry.The peculiar feature of the polyurethane dispersions is the possibility to create hydrogen bonds during the drying process.
