DuPont has agreed to settle charges that it violated the federal toxic substances and hazardous waste laws in connection with its handling of a chemical used to make Teflon~R and other coatings,the company and the Environmental Protection Agency said in documents released Nov.23(In re DuPont,EPA,No.TSCA-HQ-2004-0016,joint motion filed 11/23/05).In documents filed with an EPA administrative law judge,the agency and DuPont said they had concluded settlement negotiations,although the parties did not disclose any details of the deal and indicated the consent agreement still must be approved by EPA's Environmental Appeals Board.
