As plastics continue to supplant alternative packaging materials,says a new Freedonia Group study called Plastic Containers,U.S.demand for plastic containers will increase 3.6%/yr to 14.6 billion Ibs in 2008.Plastic bottles,which accounted for 77% of plastic-container poundage in 2003,will remain the dominant container type through the decade.The best overall prospects for plastic containers are anticipated in smaller segments such as trays and cans.
