A container preform is stretched inside a blowing tool and molded with compressed gas. When the gas pressure in the container is in the range 10-20 bar the rate of pressure increase is limited to a maximum of 200 bar/second. The preferred maximum rate of pressure rise is 100 bar/second. The maximum pressure rate rise may start at 5bar and continue until the container pressure is 30bar. Pressure may continue to rise to 40 bar though at a lower rate. The limit of the maximum pressure rate rise occurs within 0.2-1.5 seconds from the start of the blowing stage. An independent claim is included for the process equipment which has a control unit for controling pressure so that within the 10-20 bar range the maximum rate of pressure rise is 200bar/second.
