WHEN it comes to history, Litchfield's First National Bank has a bit of it — 150 years, to be exact. The bank first opened its doors as the Brewer, Seymour and Co. in 1860. The bank grew financially on the backs of hard-working prairie farmers. Today, the farm lending tradition continues under the guidance of Ken Elmore, First National president and local farmer. The town of Litchfield is about 160 years old. Thus, the bank is one of the oldest institutions within the city limits. It has been located at 324 North State St. since 1884. In 1889, it took on its current name of First National Bank.
