IN a recent milestone, the Reproductive Technologies Group at Central Queensland University has used revolutionary reproductive technology in cattle to generate calves from calves. The technology makes use of the fact that at the time of birth the ovaries of heifer calves together have about 150,000 oocytes (unfertilised eggs) ready for fertilisation.
