摘要

Linear polysiloxane are important inorganic/organic polymeric materials. The backbone of these is generally made up to difunctional R_2SiO_(2/2) (D) units in which R is typically methyl, phenyl, phenyl, 3,3,3-trifluoropropyl, 3-cyanopropyl or H. Polydisperse high molecular weight linear polysiloxanes are often prepared by acid catalyzed ring opening polymerization of cyclotetrasiloxane such as octamethylcyclotetrasiloxane (D_4). Addition of small amounts of a disiloxane, such as hexamethyldisiloxane (MM) which can serve as an end capping unit, permits control of the molecular weight of the polymer. Trifunctional RSiO_(3/2) (T) units are found at branch points, while tetrafunctional SiO_(4/2) (Q) units are present at the center of star burst polymers or at crosslinking points between linear polymer chains. Siloxane polymers that contains significant numbers of T or Q units typically are not soluble. Soluble linear polysiloxanes in which Q units serve as regular components of the polymer backbone have not been previously reported.
