Errors in handling adrenaline autoinjectors can lead to unintentional injection, usually in a finger. When the decision is made to provide a patient at risk of an anaphylactic reaction with an adrenaline autoinjector, precautions must be taken to prevent improper handling by the patient and family members.All healthcare professionals can contribute to the safe use of these devices.The following proposals take into account recommendations made by various agencies. They appear sensible, but their harm-benefit balance and practicality have not been evaluated in real-life situations.
