摘要

In 2008 the US Food and Drug Administration had collected 13 reports of interstitial pneumonia attributed to meflo-quine (1). Five patients had taken mefloquine as treatment for malaria and six as prophylaxis; the reason for treatment was unavailable in 2 cases. Respiratory symptoms occurred between 1 and 84 days (median: 2 days) after the first dose. Symptoms included fever, cough, dyspnoea, weight loss, and fatigue. All of the patients were hospitalised. One child died of interstitial pneumonia and pulmonary fibrosis after taking mefloquine prophylactically for several weeks. Ten patients made a full recovery. One patient used mefloquine again and developed severe pulmonary disorders.
