摘要

This review discusses the management of reproduction in cows, sheep, goats, pigs and horses, under the general headings: hormonal control of service period; photoperiodic control of male sexual activity in artificial insemination centres for sheep and goats; the rapidly increasing use of embryo techniques in reproduction and selection in cows [including surgical techniques, freezing of embryos, micromanipulation and cloning]; and conclusions. Advantages of control of reproduction are also discussed, including the reduction in the seasonal nature of milk production in some species, such as goats.
