In 1937,when I joined as a 5th year student in Pure Chemistry of Calcutta University,students with B.Sc.Hons.were permitted to carry out research work in the 6th Year in lieu of 75% marks of Practical.Thus using M.Sc,students.Or.J.C.Bardhan could carry out such important work as syntheses of homoapo-fenchocamphoric acid,isofenchocamphoronic acid,cis- and trans-(dl)-isofencriocam-phoric acid,dl-beta-fenchocamphorone,dl-isofenchone dl-ngustinone,etc.
