Led by strong recovery in the manufacturing sector, industrial production rose by 6.2% in October as against a dismal 3.2% registered in the same month last year. The manufacturing sector, accounting for more than three-fourth of the weightage in the Index of Industrial Production (IIP), registered a growth of 6.4% in October, 2002 over 3.5% in the corresponding month last year.
