The World Health Organization (WHO) has defined health as 'not only the absence of a disease or infirmity, but a complete state of physical, mental and social well-being'. Current health concept envisages an understanding of health-centred care that protects, maintains and improves the health of an individual, a family and a society, based on an individual's acquisition of behaviours that will protect, maintain and improve his/her well-being and enable him/her to make decisions about his/her own health. According to WHO's predictions, 70-80% of deaths in developed countries and 40-50% of deaths in less-developed countries are due to diseases associated with lifestyle.
