THE UNITED STATES POTATO BOARD'S (USPB) seed potato program will continue to broaden the base of varieties, importers and U.S. exporters in the marketing year running from July 2014 through June 2015, focusing on target markets in Egypt, Nicaragua andsub-Saharan Africa. The USPB will also continue to conduct maintenance for the markets of Brazil, the Dominican Republic, Honduras, Panama, Sri Lanka and Uruguay. The Board is also exploring new opportunities in Guatemala, Morocco and Myanmar. In thesemarkets, U.S. seed potatoes face a variety of obstacles, chief of which are market access barriers and lack of familiarity with U.S. potato varieties.
