DERA BMS is positioned as the enabling mechanism that pop pops the policies into effective, efficient and adaptable ways of working in order to deliver the objectives. This benchmarking study was aimed at improving the architecture, management, control, communication, and deployment of the BMS by reviewing current best practice. This study provides valuable learning from a benchmarking of a system as opposed to a clearly identified process. The approach adopted was Macdonald and Tanner's 'benchmarking roadmap' (Ref. 1). Subsequently, a project aimed at making the BMS more process-based and improving the look and feel to suit the needs of the users better was initiated. (1 ref.)
