There are two types of queues for waiting: revealed queues and hidden queues. Revealed queues means a customer waiting within queue can see the number of customers ahead of him awaiting service- and it is vice versa for hidden queues. Some of the examples of hidden queues are queues with bends whereone cannot see too far in front, electronic queues where one may not know how many are waiting ahead, since there may not be a physical waiting line. This paper analyzes single and multi-server types of waiting lines with various types of service time distribution and customers with different behavioral patterns. Five insights are provided based on the analysis of the waiting line parameters. (20 refs.)
