摘要

It is discussed about the aspects of quality assurance being followed by the higher educational institutions in the UK. While various methods of external/internal audits and reviews are being conducted to assess the performance of higher educational institutions with regard to quality assurance, it is observed that improvement in the academic standards is possible by adopting a well structured framework. As a result, it is observed that an academic infrastructure framework with subject benchmark statements as a key factor is found useful. The features of the framework, particularly from the perspective of using subject benchmark statements, for improving standards are presented. (30 refs.)
