In order to be competitive and attract customers, companies invest in their Web site development. Despite Web site proliferation, assessment of Web site quality remains a challenging area of research. The framework comprises of hierarchical structure of quality criteria and subcriteria used in the formulation of a model able to capture the user's perception about Web site quality during its use. The framework makes use of the analytic hierarchy process (AHP) to enhance criterion and subcriterion weight value assessment during group assessment. The framework validity was confirmed by an experimental assessment of Web sites of three cellular phone service providers in Greece by 122 users. Factor analysis of the survey data identified nine generic criteria: Relevance, usefulness, reliability, specialization, architecture, navigability, efficiency, layout, and animation, which capture all the significant aspects of Web site quality assessment.
