Purpose: To propose a multivariate process capability index (PCI) that appropriately quality loss, while offering flexibility for industrial applications and maintaining a realistic approach to assessing process capability. Summary: Despite the fact that most industrial products possess multiple quality characteristics, most of relevant literature mainly focuses on univariate capability measures. Some researchers have sought to develop multivariate analogues of the commonly used univariate index C_(pm). However, modeling loss in quality associated with multiple characteristics remains a challenge. The present article is in this scenario. (26 refs.)
