Troger's base is a well-known chiral molecule with a few unusual structural features.In spite of some interesting applications that analogues of Troger 's base have already found in supramolecular chemistry and in molecular recognition,the true potential of this fascinating molecule remains underexplored.In particular,although Troger's base appears in any course on stereochemistry and became a standard probe to quantify the performance of chiral stationary phases in HPLC,it has found only very limited applications in asymmetric synthesis and catalysis.In this account,we focus on the recent achievements in the chemistry of Troger's base and on the accompanying controversies that were revisited in the recent years.
