摘要

In summary, we have shown the formation of a new class of 10-helical foldamer in a 6-strand/14-helix mixed conformational pool. This finding is consistent with Hofmanns theoretical predictions. Although this hybrid 10-helical conformation is not ideal due to the inherently high rigidity of the NAA residues, the results could reveal new possibilities of accessing intermediate structures in hybrid conformations. These observations may be helpful to gain further insight into the backbone regulations in biopolymers and to induce changes in the relative positions and orientations of functional side-chains of synthetic ligands for specific intermolecular interactions. Furthermore, they can also serve as design tools to build tertiary structures.
