Conjugated acenes and heteroacenes have received enor-mous attention in the past decade or so owing to their prob-able applications in the fabrication of high-performancesemiconductor devices.111 Amongst them, dithieno[3,2-b:2',3'-d]pyrroles represent one class of interesting compounds thatcan function as efficient fluorescent materials,[) low-band-gap field-effect transistors, and organic semiconductors.[31 Inaddition, the recent interest in the development of nondop-ed organic light-emitting diodes (OLEDs), which often re-quires bipolar design to facilitate exciton formation,l4a-e1 hasled to the exploration of common electron donors such astriarylamine and carbazole.1" Being an analogue of carba-zole, dithienopyrrole derivatives have also been explored foruse as a new class of bipolar materials in high efficiencyOLEDs.14"1
