In an age when our children can network and connect in ways previously unimaginable, the US military faces an uphill battle in trying to achieve joint and coalition interoperability - that is, connecting forces in a manner that allows us to fight jointly, with our allies, in ways that are truly transformational. I can't overestimate the merits of interoperability over continuing to waste taxpayer dollars by paying multiple times to purchase the same capabilities for the Army, Navy, Air Force and Marines, while being unable to integrate our forces in joint operations with those of our allies.
