摘要

On a fundamental level, arguably the most impressive aspect of catalysis is the fact that a relatively small amount of material can dramatically influence the outcome of a chemical process without being altered by the process itself. Thus, in principle, an ideal catalyst that neither undergoes decomposition nor is inhibited by the reaction product should be capable of either promoting a given process indefinitely in the presence of starting material or being recovered and recycled without loss of activity. It is perhaps therefore unsurprising that there has been considerable interest in the design of recyclable organocatalysts—small metal-free molecules that are often inherently stable to air and moisture.[1]
