摘要

Pathologist-performed ultrasound-guided fine-needle aspiration (USFNA) has gained national attention recently and is a welcomed advancement to our medical subspecialty for those pathologists who are interested and properly trained. Because of the relative newness to the field of cytopathology of this image-guided procedure, there is limited information available thus far on pathologists' practices of performing USFNA. We therefore designed a 15-topic questionnaire to evaluate the practice trends and techniques of a small number of pathologists who currently perform USFNA in the United States. The results of this survey offers a baseline for comparison and improvement and may help develop the reader's own practice of USFNA as well as open up further study and discussion to make ultrasound use in FNA as successful as possible for the pathologist.
