摘要

Olanzapine is an atypical antipsychotic recommended for the treatment of both bipolar disorder and delirium, in view of the better tolerability of its side-effect profile [1,2]. Instances of delirium and agitation during treatment with olanzapine have been reported in the elderly [2]. In younger adults the occurrence of delirium and agitation while on olanzapine has been recorded almost exclusively in the context of an overdose or toxicity [3]. We report the case of a 55-year-old man with a history of bipolar affective disorder who developed two distinct episodes of delirium during his latest admission, each precipitated by the introduction of olanzapine.
