LG Chem reports a 55.6% increase in second-quarter net profits compared with the corresponding period of last year, to 352.9 billion Korean won, on sales down 13.6%, to won5.07 trillion. Operating profit soared 56.7% year-on-year in the second quarter, to won563.4 billion. LG Chem says that earnings in the company's basic materials and chemicals division benefited from a "stabilized feedstock price."
