A Standards Australia Committee is to meet to review the requirements for PVC pipes that carry drinking water. It will consider issues such as the tests required to assess the effect the pipes have on drinking water and the marking requirements for these pipes.Following recent concerns over lead based stabilisers in PVC pipes on a South Australian project, Standards Australia discussed this issue with the Water Services Association of Australia (WSAA), the major water supply industry association, which agreed that the issues should be examined by the Committee that developed the Standard.
