In response to calls from industry, Standards Australia is developing new Standards and guidelines to address the governance and management of information technology systems and projects. The Standards will assist senior office-holders at the board level, to meet their obligations in controlling how IT systems support the organisation. Senior officers have responsibility for managing the risks associated with the use of Information and Communication Technologies [ICT] and are accountable for the effective, secure use of information by their organisations. Standards Australia established a community of interest, bringing together experienced people from the private and public sector organisations that use, supply, or regulate information. From this community, a new IT Governance and Management Committee [IT-030] was formed.
