The FDA Revitalization Act (S. 1082) goes a long way to address many of the issues facing the nation's drug safety system, but Congress should look at the roles that healthcare professionals, especially pharmacists, play in ongoing postmarketing surveillance and in managing known risks of medications, the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) told Senators Edward Kennedy (D-Mass) and Mike Enzi (R-Wyo) in a letter offering support for the legislation.
