Sales of tin plates rebounded in June from the continued slump in April and May. The combined sales performance by four domestic tin makers in June was tallied at 78,100 tons, up 3.2 percent from 75,700 tons in the same month of 2002 and an increase of 1 percent from the previous month. A rise in tin plate sales last month was seen both at home and abroad. Exports of tin plates registered 43,300 tons with a year-on-year increase of 2.9 percent and a month-on-month rise of 0.9 percent. Domestic sales also increased to 34,800 tons, climbing 3.6 percent from a year ago and 1.2 percent from a month earlier. Sales of tin plates had extended an upward trend until early part of 2003, but were seen somewhat faltering in April and May and then took a turnaround for growth again in June.
