The number of residential houses permitted for construction reached 550,000 units last year, up 42.2% from the preceding year's 387,000 units and a rise of 44.7% from the average annual figure of less than 400,000 houses for the past three years from 2008 to 2010, according to according to data from the Ministry of Land, Transportation and Maritime Affairs.
