摘要

With an increase in the application of mattress gabions to the rehabilitation work site at flood-stricken districts, worries about a possible occurrence of the secondary flood damage are being raised due to a shoddy construction. The gabions, processed products of mild steel wire rods, which are not only environment-friendly, but also semi-permanent, are well recognized for its superb durability and thus, widely used for river embankment works in Europe. In addition, the mattress gabion technique is a construction method for piling gabions with a size of 2m x 4 to 5m with natural stones filled in them by connecting them to river embankment, forming a mattress.
