NDMA is an apex body, mandated by the Government of India, to lay down the policies, plans and guidelines for Disaster Management, across the country. It is to ensure timely and effective response to disasters. Additionally it provides the guidelines for the State Authorities in formulation of the State Plans and also for the Ministries or Departments of the Government of India. The Purpose is of evolving an integrated action plan for prevention and mitigation of disasters.
