The occurrence of the New world screw worm (NWS) in the Libyan Arab Jamahiyria in 1988 which was later confirmed in 1988 (FAO Newslink, 1990). The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) notified that a dangerous pest, the New World screw worm Cochliomyia hominivorax (Coquerel) was reached North Africa (Libyan Arab Jamahiyria) (News link, 1990). It was may further commented that it may infect whole area of North Africa, South of the Sahara, the Near East and Southern Europe unless a total eradication programme should be quickly implemented (Zoonoses Control Center WHO, 1990).
